Breathing Exercises

These exercises can precede or follow a certain activity. They are done in the sitting position so that we are behind the child (if you are sitting on the carpet, the child should be leaning against you).

Repeat each exercise several times, slowly and without hurry. 

  1. When you say: breathe in, lift your child’s arms; when you say: breathe out, lower them.
  2. When you say: breathe in, spread your child’s arms and when you say: breathe out, bring them back in.
  3. Tell your child to make the following sounds when exhaling: shhhhhhhhhhh, sssssssssssss, zzzzzzzzzz…
